~ Touch and Go ~

Upon return, I find I’ve been away too long.
Lost in the depths of this mind,
Or caught in Life’s web of responsibilities.
Yet, life goes on.
Lately, it’s a touch and go thing,
Always doing for others,
Keeping friends, family, strangers
Afloat and alive, and to the best
Of my ability, happy.

But I’ve lost me along the way.
The only time is time already promised,
Already given away,
For the inability to say “No” or “I can’t”.
“Can’t never could”, so I do
Because I can.

It’s only in retrospect that I wonder
If I “should” have.
I cannot save them all,
And must learn to defy
The guilt of inadequacy;
Look it straight in the face,
And be cold enough
To wrest a few, precious moments
For myself.

It’s just…
If not me, then whom?
There is little justice
When it comes to judging oneself
Against what one thinks others
Must expect.
Touch and go,
Flitting, fitting backdrop
For a bee too busy to stop.
Like the shark,
To stop would be death.

About dragonkatet

Regarding the blog name, Dragon’s Dreams ~ The name comes from my love-affairs with both Dragons and Dreams (capital Ds). It’s another extension of who I am, a facet for expression; a place and way to reach other like-minded, creative individuals. I post poetry and images that fascinate or move me, because that’s my favorite way to view the world. I post about things important to me and the world in which we live, try to champion extra important political, societal and environmental issues, etc. Sometimes I wax philosophical, because it’s also a place where I always seem to learn about myself, too, by interacting with some of the brightest minds, souls and hearts out there. It’s all about ‘connection(s)’ and I don’t mean “net-working” with people for personal gain, but rather, the expansion of the 4 L’s: Light, Love, Laughter, Learning.
