~ Autumn Adorations ~

((Anyone who knows me knows that Autumn is my very favorite season! I love the crispness and clarity of the air, the shifting colors and the smell of woodsmoke on evenings which are just starting to get chilly. I adore the bluest of skies in October and going to the local pumpkin patch to find “just” the right pumpkin to carve my Jack-o-lantern! I love Halloween and dressing in costumes, caramel apples and spiced apple cider. The entire season energizes me and I often feel like I’m not really awake or alive until Fall arrives. Here is my offering for Blaga’s Seasonal Challenge for Fall. I have to admit that this one was the toughest so far, the most challenging, simply because there is so much about the season which I love. The poem is mediocre at best, but it holds some of my all-time favorite things. 🙂 Enjoy! P.S. Some of the links in the poem have music, so you might wanna pause the video before the poem.))

~ Autumn Adorations ~

I wish it could be Autumn all year long!
With October’s Bright Blue Weather every day!
“All Soul’s Night” (see above) is my favorite Fall song,
And Samhain is one of the best Fall words, I’d say.

Hawthorne sums up my feelings in a quote with flair,
“I cannot endure to waste anything as precious
as autumn sunshine by staying in the house.
So I spend almost all the daylight hours in the open air.”

I don’t have a favorite Fall book, but rather, a story:
“The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”, by Washington Irving.
I’ve always loved this tale in all it’s spooky, subtle glory,
But then, I’m drawn to many things that others find unnerving.

My favorite town in Autumn, is found in a movie!
The town of “Halloween” is definitely the best!
And speaking of movies, for my favorite Fall film,
“Planes, Trains and Automobiles” outshines the rest.

A Thanksgiving Feast has many fine foods,
That an eerie, black cat would be glad to devour!
This poem wouldn’t be complete unless it includes
The Chicago Peace Rose as my favorite Fall flower.

In short, there’s not much I don’t like about Fall,
Except for the fact that it’s gone much too soon!
Let me linger in shadows and sup with ghostly cabal,
And dance by the light of a warm Harvest Moon!

I love carving Jack-o-lanterns and try to make every, single one of them unique and 3-D. The Goblin King is one of my favorites, and I do black cats pretty well, too! 😉

About dragonkatet

Regarding the blog name, Dragon’s Dreams ~ The name comes from my love-affairs with both Dragons and Dreams (capital Ds). It’s another extension of who I am, a facet for expression; a place and way to reach other like-minded, creative individuals. I post poetry and images that fascinate or move me, because that’s my favorite way to view the world. I post about things important to me and the world in which we live, try to champion extra important political, societal and environmental issues, etc. Sometimes I wax philosophical, because it’s also a place where I always seem to learn about myself, too, by interacting with some of the brightest minds, souls and hearts out there. It’s all about ‘connection(s)’ and I don’t mean “net-working” with people for personal gain, but rather, the expansion of the 4 L’s: Light, Love, Laughter, Learning.

I love autumn as well! I love the changing leaves, the smell of the air. Carving pumpkins is especially fun (we did a Totoro this past Halloween!) If only winter didn’t follow…

🙂 Heya Lola! Thanks for coming by! I had to look up Totoro (surprising, since I like a lot of anime) and I imagine it made a terrific jack-o-lantern! I agree – if only winter weren’t next! lol

A joyous dedication to your favorite season. Unfortunately I live in the equatorial region, so we don’t have four season; and I have not yet experienced autumn anywhere. I am now all the more determined to do so soon. 🙂

Thanks for reading and commenting! Oh, that IS unfortunate that you’ve never witnessed all the glory and energy of Autumn! I hope that you will be able to do so. 🙂
